Description:
ADL5511 is an RF envelope and TruPwr root mean square detector. The envelope output voltage is a voltage proportional to the envelope of the input signal. The rms output voltage has nothing to do with the peak-to-average ratio of the input signal. The rms output is a linear V/V voltage, and the conversion gain at 900MHz is 1.9V/Vrms value. The conversion gain of the envelope output is 1.46V/V (900MHz), which is based on the 1.1V internal reference voltage provided by the ERER pin.
The ADL5511 can work with signals from DC to 6GHz, with an envelope bandwidth of up to 130MHz. The acquired envelope can be used for RF power amplifier (PA) linearization and efficiency enhancement, and the root mean square output can be used to measure root mean square power. High rms accuracy and fast envelope response are especially suitable for envelope detection and power measurement of broadband peak-to-average ratio signals used in CDMA 2000, W-CDMA and LTE systems.

Precautions:
(1) The maximum input power of the detector module is +20dBm, and the dynamic range of the detector is 47dB.
(2) Since the module is a high-precision device. In order to avoid unnecessary interference, it is recommended to use a linear power supply.
(3) It is recommended to use the SMA interface for the input signal. Poor contact or poor-quality wire may cause signal attenuation or excessive noise, making the measurement inaccurate.
(4) The response and dynamic range of the detector module at different frequencies will be different. There are also differences between different modules. This is a normal phenomenon and not a module problem.

FAQ:
Q1: Why is the output not DC when doing RMS detection?
A1: First check whether the output port is connected. Secondly, the RMS filter corner frequency (default 40Hz) is related to the capacitance of the FLT pin and can be modified according to the data.
Q2: Why does the output carry some carrier frequencies when doing envelope detection?
A2: First check whether the output port is connected correctly. Secondly, the envelope detection corner frequency is related to the capacitance of the FLT pin. The module is shipped with a default value of 10MHz, and you can modify it according to the data.
Q3: I bought 2 modules and the output voltage of the same test condition is different. Is this normal?
A3: There are individual differences between modules. The detailed actual measurement diagram is typical data, and the specific parameters are subject to actual measurement.
