The Cangyan chip contains 3 different game modes: for PS3, PC360 and NS modes
- Press and hold the 1P/X/O button to plug in the USB, it is PS3 mode and the chip light is red.
- Press and hold the 2P/YI△ key to plug in USB, it is PC360 mode and the chip light is green.
- Press and hold the 3P/R/R1 key to plug in the USB, it is NS mode and the chip light is blue.
- For PS3 mode: It supports for PC, PS3 console, PS4 console (after guiding with a controller for PS4, users can play Street Fighter 5, King of Fighters 14, Tekken 7 and Guilty Gear R2 for PS4) and Android phones. This mode does not require drivers to be installed regardless of the platform.
- PC360 mode: It supports for PC and Android mobile phones, but not for XBOX360 console. On XP systems, you need to install driver for MICROSOFT'S XBOX360 controller before using. On systems above WIN7, drivers are basically not required to be installed. Street Fighter 6, King of Fighters 15 and Tekken 7 are supported on the platform for PC STEAM.
- NS mode: It can support PC and NS consoles (when two handles are plugged into both sides of the NS console, a Type-C OTG adapter can be used to directly plug into the built-in USB port; when plugging the two handles into both sides of the NS console, you can use the USB cable to plug the USB port on the base). This mode does not require driver installation regardless of platform.
- The Cangyan chip has a mode memory function. After switching the game mode in the above way, the chip will remember the mode, and the next time it is powered on, it will still be this mode by default, without switching the game mode.

Support SOCD Modes (Modes can be memorized):
Press and hold Home + Left + Right over 3 seconds to switch among these three SOCD modes:
- Mode 1: without last input priority. ←+→= Neutral; ↓ + ↑ = Neutral; ←+ ↓ + → = ↓ (for KOF 14)
- Mode 2: Horizontal and vertical last input priority. ←+→= →; ↓ + ↑ = ↑; ← + ↓ + → = ↘ (for KOF 97 simplified and Street Fighter 5)
- Mode 3: Only when the horizontal direction and ↓ are used together, the horizontal direction does not support last input priority. In all other cases, there is a last input priority function. For example: ←+→=→; ↓+↑=↑；←+↓+→=↓.
- Mode 4: No last input priority in the horizontal direction. Last input priority in the vertical direction. For example: ←+→=Neutral, ↓+↑=↑; ←+↓+→=↓.
