Description:
It is an adapter designed for voice communication. It is not suitable for direct use with image and data communication such as SSTV, PSK31, Echolink.

Functions:
- Connection to external speakers and headphones. Connection to moving-coil microphones and electret microphones.
- Its emergency PTT button enables transmitting operation.
- With its PPT socket, it can be connected to external PTT switch or foot switch for transmitting.
- Two-way communications with your PC and antenna tuner can be realized by using two CAT ports -- your device's CAT port and the adapter's. Attention: Only applied to FT-857 and FT-897, instead of FT-817 and FT-818.

Wiring:
- Attention: The adapter uses the solenoid-type 8-wire cable that comes with your radio as the input cable. When using, remove the connector plug from MH-31 handheld mic and insert it into the adapter.

Wiring Tips:
- Connect radio PHONE to the adapter's PHONE by using a 3.5mm recording cable. To keep your desktop clean, you can make the recording cable passed through the middle of the spiral cable of your radio mic.

How to Set the Jumper Wire of the Adapter?
- Before Setting: Use Allen key to open the panel connected to radio and pull out its PCB board. Please keep the aluminum alloy PTT button well.
- MIC MODE: Set the properties of external microphone. When using an electret microphone, the left side is short-circuit (EC). When using a moving-coil microphone, the right side is short-circuit (MC).
- PHONE MODE: Set the properties of external headset. When using a mono headset or speakers, the left side is short-circuit (MONI). When using a stereo headset, the right side is short-circuit (STEREO).

CAT Function For FT-857 and FT897 Handheld Microphone:
- Press FUNC key to enter into menu.
- Turn SELECT knob to No. 59 menu.
- Rotate the knob to switch the menu among NOR/RMT/CAT.
- Adjust to CAT mode. Long press FUNC to return and the setting is completed.
