Attention:
1. The latest firmware is supported, and the current firmware is Mayhem firmware V2.0.2 by default.
2. For certain functionality, like the world map, GPS simulator, and others, you need to prepare a PortaPack H2M and a FAT32 formatted MicroSD card over 1G.

Description:
The official firmware created for the PortaPack includes several decoders and transmitters, but the third-party "Havoc" firmware is what you'll really want to use, as it offers many more decoders and transmission options.

Progress of Work:
1. The program validation prototype has been completed.
2. The latest documents, from May 2017, are based on improvements.

Catching and Replay:
- One of the best things about the PortaPack is that it makes capturing and replaying wireless signals, such as those from ISM band remote controls, extremely easy.
- To catch a signal, simply enter the "Catching" menu, set the frequency of the remote key, press the red 'R' record button, and then press the key on the remote.
- After that, stop the recording to save it to the SD card.
- Now, you can go into the Replay menu, select the file you just recorded, and hit play. The exact same signal will be transmitted over the air, effectively replacing your remote key.

Microphone TX:
- By using the 3.5mm audio jack, the Portapack can also function as a standard push-to-talk or voice-activated walkie-talkie radio. With a microphone connected to the audio jack, simply hold down the right button to activate push-to-talk.
- If needed, you can also enable multiple CTCSS tone options, as well as tones that appear to enable transmission to wireless headphones.

Other Transmitters:
- There are generic OOK transmitters that can be programmed with custom data. This mode might be useful for experimenting with simple key fobs or devices like home automation switches.
- Numerous transmit modes are implemented that are questionable in most countries and could result in serious legal consequences. These transmitters are intended solely for internal testing within a Faraday cage!

Receivers:
By connecting speakers to the Portapack's 3.5mm audio jack, you can easily listen to standard NFM and WFM audio signals. ADS-B reception can be enabled on the PortaPack by selecting the inductor and lightning symbol in the top-right corner. With the bias tee enabled, it can receive aircraft signals.

Hardware Configuration:
- 3.2-inch 240x320 TFT screen
- Navigation switch
- Audio output
- Microphone input
- DC 2.1 interface
- 4-layer gold plating
- ROHS compliance (for export to Europe and America)

The latest version was updated in May 2017, with the most recent documentation.

Add a PortaPack to your HackRF One software-defined radio and leave your laptop behind! The PortaPack attaches to your HackRF and adds a touchscreen LCD, navigation controls, a headphone jack, a real-time clock, and a micro SD card slot.

Simply add a USB battery, and you're ready to explore the radio spectrum wherever you are. The PortaPack firmware runs on the fast processors (for ARM) in your HackRF. No computer is necessary (except for firmware updates).

HAVOC Features Include:
- IQ file replay
- Microphone FM transmit with CTCSS
- CTCSS decoder
- Frequency manager (save & load from SD card, with categories and notes)
- File manager
- "Soundboard" wave file player (place 8-bit mono files in the SD card /wav directory)
- ADS-B receiver with map view

- Four-way arrow keys, rotary jog wheel, and select button.
- Coin battery for preserving settings and date/time.
- Micro SD card slot for data and code storage.

Some features demonstrated in the February 22, 2016 firmware video:
- SSB, AM, narrowband FM, wideband FM audio reception, with spectrum waterfall.
- Wideband (18MHz) spectrum analysis and waterfall.
- Monitoring of boat (AIS), automobile (TPMS), and utility meter transponders (ITRON ERT).
- HackRF mode runs HackRF firmware for use with host computer SDR software.
- PM calibration for more accurate tuning.
- Sleep mode saves power by turning off just the display.
- You may also find the Furrtek HAVOC firmware very interesting!

Your HackRF will continue to function with computer-based SDR software when you put the PortaPack into "HackRF Mode.

The PortaPack is compatible only with the HackRF One and is not compatible with the earlier HackRF Jawbreaker design. If your HackRF has an RF shield installed, the PortaPack should fit without issues. Compatibility with the HackRF Blue is experimental. One Blue owner has reported good results, with minor mechanical interference between the PortaPack audio capacitors and the baseband header. If your HackRF Blue does not have a baseband header installed, you should not encounter any mechanical problems.

The PortaPack requires an external battery. While any USB-connected battery should work, their quality varies significantly, and poorly designed batteries may introduce voltage regulator noise into the radio.

The PortaPack and HackRF One are not designed to replace a handheld ham radio receiver. Although receiving sensitivity varies across bands, they will not perform as well as a dedicated ham radio receiver.

PortaPack H2M:
Features:
- PortaPack H2M is an official co-branded licensed version and is sold by HAMGEEK.
- PortaPack H2M adds a 10.00MHZ TCXO FOX 5070 crystal oscillator to the original 2nd generation H2
- Support GPS simulation
- Support the latest official firmware upgrade

Description:
- The screen has been upgraded to a 3.2-inch wide-angle display, fully supporting touch control.
- It features a maximum 3W speaker amplifier and supports switching between speakers and headphones. It can be equipped with external speakers to enable loudspeaker functionality. The pure hardware logic implementation ensures compatibility with future firmware upgrades. The original version does not support external speakers.
- The battery socket has been upgraded and now supports a more suitable battery standard (the built-in lithium battery is 2000mAh). It fits perfectly into the HackRF. It also supports USB charging, a charging status LED display, and button-controlled power on/off functionality, which is essential for offline use. The original version could only be powered by plugging in and lacked the ability to turn on or off independently.
- The upgraded crystal oscillator is a 10.00 MHz TCXO FOX 5070, a high-precision active crystal oscillator with enhanced anti-interference capabilities. Additionally, it supports GPS simulation without the need to connect to computer software.
- Based on feedback regarding the first generation's key feel issues, the buttons have been upgraded for a better tactile experience and now come with keycaps, making them easier to match with custom-designed shells. Additionally, the first-generation illuminated knobs have been upgraded to a black finish, complementing the matte black PCB.
