Description:
Based on V1.0 version, the V1.2 adds two major functions: one is offline firmware loading mode of USB interface chip. The other is offline loading mode of FPGA firmware. The two firmware loads can be selected by users and can be loaded offline at the same time. It can also be loaded offline through USB interface chip, while the FPGA firmware is loaded online. But it is impossible to choose FPGA firmware to be loaded offline separately (Because the board has a power-on sequence, which is controlled by the USB interface chip. The FPGA device is not powered when the USB chip is not working properly).
FPGA device of B210-MICRO V1.2 uses CSG484 package which is more conducive to heat dissipation, which has better heat dissipation and stability, but after the package change, the original firmware for ETTUS cannot be used. Must use our FPGA corresponding firmware, and open the FPGA source code at the same time (the source code is just a modified FPGA constraint file).
Because FPGA firmware needs to correspond to UHD driver version, different versions of UHD drivers need to use the corresponding version of FPGA firmware. We will update the FPGA firmware of B210-MICRO with the update of UHD version.
Attention: When B210-MICRO is shipped, the latest firmware version will be programmed by default. The latest FPGA firmware version is 16, and the corresponding UHD version is 3.15. If users need other versions, please contact customer service when purchasing.
At the same time, B210-MICRO board has JTAG interface of the FPGA device. Users can burn and write any version of FPGA firmware by themselves, or they can design and modify the FPGA code by themselves with our FPGA device constraint files according to their needs.
The board is designed with firmware loading status indicators for the USB interface chip and FPGA chip. The operating status of the board is clear at a glance.
The firmware of the USB interface chip is loaded offline to solve the failure of the USB interface chip before the second enumeration becomes the USB3 mode under special circumstances. This failure is an occasional failure, which is more common when multiple B210 devices are connected to the same upper computer, and the upper computer is a system for LINUX, it is especially frequent and cannot be solved by board reset.
We designed and generated offline loading firmware based on the public USB interface chip source code for ETTUS, and solidified it on the B210-MICRO board. Users can enable this function by dip switch according to their needs. After enabling this function, it will take about 1-2 seconds for the device to load and reset successfully after the board is powered on. At this time, the host computer recognizes the USB3 device, and the device is loaded online using the UHD driver and the USB chip is enumerated twice. In other words, after the B210-MICRO board is powered on and recognized by the host computer, it is a device in USB3.0 mode and does not require a second enumeration reset, which completely eliminates the hidden dangers caused by this. To provide users with higher reliability and stability in product commercial applications.
If users need to reduce the board initialization time, they can choose the USB interface chip and FPGA firmware, both of which are offline loading mode. After turning on this mode, the B210-MICRO board will first load the firmware of the USB interface chip after powering on. After loading, the firmware status indicator (LED1 green) of the USB interface chip lights up and the FPGA firmware starts to be loaded. After 2 seconds, the FPGA firmware is loaded and the FPGA firmware status indicator (LED2 red) lights up. At this time, the device is in the ready state, and you can enter the working mode at any time. The working state can be entered at any time through the instructions of the host computer, which greatly reduces the initialization time of the device and improves the user experience of the product.
