Generator AVR 6GA2 491-1A for Siemens 1FC6 series is a half-wave phase controlled thyristor type automatic voltage regulator and forms part of the excitation system for a brushless generator. In addition to regulating the generator voltage, the AVR circuitry includes under speed and sensing loss protection to ensure safe, reliable control of the generator. Positive voltage build up from residual levels is ensured by the use of proficient semiconductors in the power circuitry of the AVR, which is connected with the main stator windings and the exciter field windings to offer closed loop control of the output voltage with load regulations of +/-1.5%.

Use and Adjustment:
1 . Switch "S 1/1 . "S 1/2". 'S 1/3" is initially set to the "ON" position. When the external potentiometer is used, "S 1/3" is turned to the "OFF" position. Note: It is forbidden to open "S 1/1. "S 1/2" when loading!
2."S" adjustment potentiometer: The right-hand adjustment is increased, and it is set to 0 when the unit is running. The adjustment method of parallel operation when the power factor is 1, the generator voltage does not decrease; when the power factor is 0, the generator voltage is reduced by 6%: when the power factor is 0.8, the generator voltage is correspondingly reduced by 3.6%.
3."U" internal voltage setting potentiometer: the swing voltage is set high, the reverse voltage is set low, and the initial value is about 20%.
4."K" gain control potentiometer: adjust the stability, rotate counterclockwise to 25% position, the control system tends to be stable, the initial value is 50%position : the right-handed gain is increased, too large may cause voltage instability.
5."T" dynamic time control potentiometer: adjust the reaction time, that dynamic stability energy, the clockwise rotation reaction is slow, and the counterclockwise rotation reaction is fast. The initial value is 50%. Reacting to fast may cause large voltage fluctuations.
6.R47 disturbance potentiometer: adjust the feedback deviation signal to improve the dynamic performance, the initial value is 0% position.
7 . BR1 short wiring, disconnection can reduce the gain by 25%, K potentiometer rotates to 0, and the voltage is still unstable.
