It is a 1.25-inch ERF filter (energy rejection filter for Quark Chromosphere).

Player One S-series filter uses high quality optical glass substrate and multi-layer composite coating technology. Thus, it has an excellent optical performance in astrophotography.

This filter is an assistant filter, designed for Quark Chromosphere (Hα version), rejecting energy and extending life time for your Quark. The 1.25" ERF filter must work on 5" or smaller refractors (DO NOT use it on eyepieces for observing).

Why add a ERF on Quark?
The first filter on the Quark is small. The solar disk may be larger than it, and the light heats up the filter and its frame. With this 1.25" ERF filter, we can protect the optical components on the QUARK from high temperatures.

And users don't have to worry about the ERF itself which uses B270 clear glass and a multi-layer coating, so it reflects rather than absorbs most of the energy.

Does it have any other uses?
Yes. This ERF filter can also be used for lunar imaging, providing a brighter image than the IR685 filter and also improving the seeing.
